When it comes to purchasing a ring, accurate measurements are important to ensure a comfortable and secure fit. Here are some additional tips to consider when measuring for a ring:

  • Use a flexible measuring tape or a piece of string: Wrap it around the base of the finger where the ring will sit. Make sure it's snug but not overly tight.
  • Mark the overlap point: Once you have the tape or string wrapped around your finger, mark the point where it overlaps using a pen or marker.
  • Measure the length: Remove the tape or string from your finger and measure the marked length with a ruler in millimetres. This measurement represents the circumference of your finger.
  • Consult a ring size chart: Find a reliable ring size chart that corresponds to the country or region you are in, as different places may use different sizing standards. Match your circumference measurement to the appropriate ring size on the chart.
  • Choose the larger size if you're in between: If your measurement falls between two sizes, it's generally advisable to select the larger size for a more comfortable fit. Rings can often be resized later if necessary.
  • Measuring an existing ring: If you're purchasing a ring as a surprise and don't know your partner's size, you can measure one of their existing rings. Use our free ring sizer tool to assist. Ensure you measure the inner part of the ring rather than the outer circumference.
  • Comfort and ease of wear: A properly fitting ring should feel snug on the finger without being overly tight. It should slide over the knuckle smoothly without excessive resistance.
